Getting Myself All Excited
By Alex Fayle

Today we board a train for Madrid and tomorrow a plane to Toronto.

You’d think I’d be more excited than I am. After all, I’m going to go see family and friends, I get to show Raul everything about my pre-Spanish life and I get to see Quebec City (which I’ve never been to).

So, why am I not excited? I have no idea. Likely I’ll get excited when I get on the train tomorrow, but right now my head is full of all the work I’m going to miss out on.

Yes, that’s right. I’m about to head off on three relaxing weeks of holidays and I’m worried about my Internet addiction – oops I mean my business.

I started to write down all my worries, but then erased them when I realized how petty they all were. Suddenly I have butterflies in my stomach (in a good way) and I feel like running around the apartment shouting “Wheeee!” because yes, we’re going on holiday! Our first extended holiday together! I get to show Raul off to everyone!

Okay, much better now. I’m excited.

But don’t worry, even though I’m away, I won’t abandon you. New posts will still come up Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, but I need to ask all of you a favour.

Since I won’t be online much and won’t be able to respond to comments in a timely fashion, if you don’t mind could you pop in on recent blog posts and strike up a conversation with your fellow commentors? Thanks!

And as a reward for being such a great group of blog-friends, I’ve put my workshop on sale for a limited time. Actually, I’m going to do more than put it on sale.

For at least the next week (and maybe more if I’m having a great time and don’t think about the blog) the Someday My Ship Will Come In (Curing Someday Syndrome) email based workshop will be absolutely free. Yes, that’s right. Free.

So, go check it out!

Someday Lessons:

  • Talking about or writing down your worries will often show you how small they are and improve your attitude significantly.
  • When you’re in a good mood, share it with others. It’ll make them feel good too.

Alex, Have fun and say hello to everyone for me…oh wait, they don’t know me and will probably think I am odd, oh heck, who cares, say hi to them all for me anyway.

YAY!! And because I want to help you help others, I signed up for your course! Because I know that for some reason, people are weird about signing up for even free stuff. Not me. Right now, I need all the free I can get. I look forward to this, Alex! You described me to a T.

I caught your excitement! You’re very good at expressing yourself, giving us a taste of what you’re like. It’s endearing. I wish you and Raul a wonderful, fun, relaxing but rejuvenating holiday! And thanks again for the free course. That’s a lot to give and a lot to receive.

    Alex,

Have a great time! I promise to help hold down the fort! And I signed up for the course. Thank you, that was very generous of you!( it was farther down on the money spending/budget list, I am happy to be able to do it faster!)

Now go have fun and don’t worry about a thing, we will take real good care of the place for you!

@Wendi - I think he should worry about us holding down the fort. I mean look at us! We use words like oddnasity! Mind you, I’ll be a bit busy feeding Alex and Raul, so I won’t be lurking around here causing too much trouble.

    Panther,

But oddnasity is a GREAT word! Who knows, if he is gone long enough, maybe we will have written the Someday Dictionary with definitions.

    It will be devilishous.

Devilishous - Referring to doing something wrong, but it feels so right; as in “creating a someday dictionary while Alex is gone and running amuck on his website would be devilishous.”

Oddnasity - One’s ability to be odd without care or remorse to those who are in the unfortunate place to witness it.

    I like it already!

Blogdaucity - the audacity to take over your brother’s blog while he away on vacation.

    Alex,

Have a safe and wonderful trip! Hey, you’re like me - my wife couldn’t believe I wasn’t jumping up and down the day before we flew out to New Zealand. And even then, when we boarded the plane in Toronto. I got excited when we finally boarded the plane from LAX to Auckland, because we were actually then on our way to some place new!

    See you soon - Brett

@Brett - if you want to literally see him soon, he’s in town over Thanksgiving Weekend. Come on down..bring the kids..it’s one big party!

    @Panther,

Oh, I’d love to take you folks up on that offer (but I believe we’re out of town that weekend…) - it would have been really great to meet all of you at the same time.

But you know, we’ll meet you and the Lion soon enough, and I have a feeling we’ll get to meet Alex too, eventually. Life’s like that.

Hi Alex: I’ve been to Canada twice, once with my family and once with a Canadian boyfriend I had during law school (Tony Stanco, do you know him? Just kidding :-) ). Have a safe trip and I hope you have a great time!

@Urban Panther: OK, after your last post, I dunno if this is a sincere grin or an evil, sinister grin. Perhaps the virtuous Panther is merely a cover of a practical joker underneath and has some surprises waiting for the visiting brother :)

You’re going on holiday and you’re still going to post three times weekly? Holy cow - cut yourself some slack. Relax it will all still be here after you’re done with your trip.

On second thought perhaps you shouldn’t take advice from a guy who only posts when he feels like it. :)
