That’s right, over the next few months, Someday Syndrome’s gonna get aggressive and pushy.
When Raul and I were in Canada, I treated him to some sessions with my chiropractor whose nickname is the Iron Claw. Raul (with a bit of fear in his voice) asked: “Is this going to hurt?”
My doctor (with perhaps a little too much glee in her voice) replied with: “Yup! It’s taken your body 35 years to get this way and unless we want to take another 35 years to fix it, it’s gonna hurt.”
And that got me thinking about how connected our habits and our bodies are to each other. At least as connected as emotional and physical clutter are, no?
Take my own Someday Relapse. When I was feeling stuck and lost, who did I turn to? Did I go to people who said: “It’s okay, Alex. Take your time.” Nope. I went to the thought-provokers and the ass-kickers.
Why? Because I wasn’t kicking my own ass.
Someday Syndrome has always been thought-provoking, but now it’s time for some ass-kicking. I’ll still cure you of procrastination with love and empathy (because that’s just who I am), but I will also start telling you to get over it, whatever your “it” is and to just get on with achieving your dreams.

Yes! Yes, yes, yes. I’m with you all the way. Too many people stay stuck and let fear hold them back. They talk to people who pat their back and offer sympathy.
That’s nice, but it doesn’t get anything done. Pats and sympathy don’t get people moving. They help people stay where they are feeling sorry for themselves.
You have so much passion, Alex. Use it. Go kick some ass.

Awesome - I’ve been needing a kick in the ass for sometime now. I’ve been trying to do it myself but I just can’t seem to get in the right position to do it - my foot doesn’t move around 180 degrees!
Plus, when I try I trip over myself anyway:)
Thanks Alex!

This reminds me of Kelly’s tip post! Have the courage to go for what you need to hear, rather than what you want to hear…

Booyah!
I have but one word to say: balance.
I thoroughly look forward to some ass-kicking, mainly because it might mean I actually do the travelling/visiting thing that I keep meaning to

I need an ass kicker not an ass kisser which is why it took me a year to go after my dreams. I’ve been too complacent.
Hope you’ll whoop people’s asses who’ve been too flabby into shape (oops, I hope this sounds right).

It’s all your fault, you know. Let’s just hope you haven’t created a monster…
@UP
You’re within my sights Panther. I’m waiting to see the new Panther Lair…
@Brett
I’ve been reading too much Men with Pens, Rock Your Day, IttyBiz and Maximum Customer Experience - they’ve got me all riled up.
@Lynn
Welcome to the blog - I’ll be quite happy to help you stretch your leg so that you can kick your own ass. I’ve been working on my own flexibility.
@Steph
The trick is knowing when the words apply to you and when to ignore them for your own good.
@James
That’s what has been missing - I’ve been all gentle and loving - fortunately I won’t lose any of that as it’s hard-wired into me. Now it’s time to balance it out with the pushiness.
@Kate
Welcome to the blog as well! I too took far too long to kick my own ass, and don’t want others to suffer the same way.
@Friar
Do I detect sarcasm? There had not be any sarcasm in that comment. It’s a good thing you’re not that much of a someday suffering guy or I might just have to single you out as an example.
